Oaklands Park
Location: Essex, UK
Sector: Masterplan / Education Client: IPE DevelopmentsWe believe this is the UK’s largest Passivhaus scheme. Oaklands Park is a 7.7ha landscape led masterplan with a design developed in line with the Building With Nature standards. Our proposals have been steered by robust arboriculture, ecological and landscape strategies from the very outset to ensure that we achieve substantial increase in biodiversity, tree planting and overall greening. The masterplan includes the residential conversion of an existing Neo Georgian school building, a new SEND school and a residential enabling development that will fund tis construction.
Oaklands park is designed as a walkable neighbourhood set amidst a vast network of parks, gardens, nature trails, play areas and green streets that will bring 4.4ha of the site into the public realm and connect the nearby towns of Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell to the Roding Valley lakes and nature reserve. A robust sustainable movement strategy reduces reliance on vehicular transportation and improves connections to the nearest public transportation links. Included in the scheme is residents and visitors cycle parking in excess of double the required standards, cycle maintenance areas, cycle pump stations and cleaning areas. The proposed residences feature highly sustainable designs with the vast majority of new dwellings achieving Passiv Haus standard and the new SEND school achieving Net Zero in operation.
